According to the projections for Riviera Maya, an average occupancy rate of 90 percent is expected to close out the year, which would end with around five million visitors to the region.
“The goal of 5 million will be reached without problem. The growth that we have had this year, month to month, gives us those figures. The difference over last year is 300,000 more tourists for end of the year, because the reservations for December are very good.
“We believe that we will end the last week of the year with an occupation of 95 percent,” said Ocampo Fleet.
According to the State Tourism Secretariat, from December 21, 2017 to January 7, 2018, a hotel occupancy of 86.2 percent is estimated for Cancún and Puerto Morelos. A rate of 82.5 percent for Cozumel and 78.7 percent on Isla Mujeres.
A hotel fill rate of 61.8 percent is forecast for Chetumal with an 86.5% percent rate for Riviera Maya. The island of Holbox is expected to see a complete 100 percent occupancy rate with 93.7 percent in Bacalar and 96.1 percent in Mahahual.
