Puerto Morelos, Q.R. – Puerto Morelos firemen have been busy this year, already having dealt with more than 30 fires.
It’s barely the third month of the year and already, the Puerto Morelos fire department have rushed to at least 30 fires, six of which were palapas. Approximately 24 forest fires required their attention from careless locals burning garbage.
They are the 11th municipality in the state and tend to a large area, including Leona Vicario where there have been 18 counted weed fires due to illegal burning.
Elements of the Puerto Morelos fire department are limited, with only 13 members who are divided into three shifts to cover the region. The P.M. fire department has two water trucks with a capacity of 500 liters.
