Puerto Morelos adds new Route 2 for residents

Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — A new public transportation route has been developed to reinforce urban mobility in Puerto Morelos says mayor Laura Fernández Piña.

The new Route 2 will provide public transportation from the Villas Morelos II subdivision to the Casco Antiguo. This new route responds to the mobility needs of the inhabitants of the municipal seat, since it covers Zetina Gasca Avenue in its entirety, to offer citizens connectivity with important points including public and medical facilities.

“Unquestionably connectivity and mobility are issues that should occupy us in Puerto Morelos, because despite being a small community compared to its neighbors Cancun and Playa del Carmen, it requires new transport routes to take citizens to points of daily interest,” explained Laura Fernández Piña.

She said that with Route 2 of public transport, which belongs to the Union of Tax Drivers César Martín Rosado and the company ADO, through the group Jacinto Canek, will shorten the transfer times for residents and cover a tour of the main roads of the town.

“I am sure that soon more transport routes will come, these are the first steps”, underlined Laura Fernández, who was accompanied by the director of Urban Mobility, Manuel Dionisio Rodríguez Acosta.

For his part, the general secretary of the Trade Union of Taxicabs of Puerto Morelos, Jorge Castro Tapia, said that after a broad analysis together with the municipal authorities, today starts this new route that will take the public to the store of Super Aki supermarkets and the banking institution Bancomer, and places like the Municipal Palace and the Colegio de Bachilleres.

Meanwhile, Manuel Dionisio Rodríguez Acosta explained that the seven transport units that will provide this service will travel 9.5 kilometers in an approximate time of 30 minutes, from 5:30 in the morning to 10:00 at night. “The journey ends in the tourist area of Puerto Morelos, crossing the avenues Niños Héroes and Javier Rojo Gómez, roads that concentrate different points of interest and work centers of the same inhabitants,” he added.

“The planning of urban mobility is a necessary public policy tool to achieve the sustainability of cities, which is why today we implement a new public passenger transport route,” he explained.
