Private company submits hotel proposal for Puerto Aventuras

Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — According to the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources, a private individual has applied for permission to construct a hotel in central Puerto Aventuras.

The hotel, which is being requested by the company Latitud 40 SA de CV, would offer 175 rooms on a construction area of 1.49 hectares.

According to the company’s published Manifestation of Environmental Impact (MIA), the building would require clearing of land and the rescue of some animal and plant species.

“Before the clearing of vegetation of the land in the areas previously delimited and considered for use, rescue activities of flora and fauna will be carried out with the objective of relocating the specimens that are susceptible to rescue and mitigate their impacts for the implementation of the project.”

The MIA request was submitted September 18. If approved, the company says it will generate 440 indirect jobs and 110 direct.
