Police locate missing Tulum woman in Riviera Maya jungle

Tulum, Q.R. — The FGE says they have located a woman who has been reported as missing since October 21. In a statement, the Attorney General reported locating 20-year-old Aisha Lakshmi N, who disappeared more than a week ago in Tulum.

The FGE says she was found alive but dehydrated in a jungle area near the Xel Ha park. She was located with the help of Solidaridad police, firemen and Civil Protection. Canines were also brought in to help in the search.

In a social media post, the FGE said “The #FGEQuintanaRoo reports that the female person identified as A.V.R. reported as missing on October 21, has been located and transferred to a hospital to receive medical attention.

“Teams of the Special Prosecutor’s Office in Crimes of Forced Disappearance of Persons and Disappearance Committed by Individuals, accompanied by members of the State Personnel Search Commission, @SSP_QROO and Municipal, among others, located her in a jungle area towards Xel- Ha with apparent signs of dehydration.”

The young woman is alleged to have hailed a taxi on October 19 from a Riviera Maya hotel. The taxi driver dropped her off in Chemuyil. From there, she apparently hopped on a combi to Tulum. She was not heard from again.

The FGE noted in their social media message that teams belonging to the kidnapping unit (Forced Disappearance) were involved in locating her. Additional details have not yet been released.
