Police interview pair in PDC hospital after being shot near city beach

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two people were taken to a Playa del Carmen hospital Thursday after being shot near a city beach. The shooting was reported at Punta Esmeralda around 1:30 a.m. by two men who said they were shot after resisting a robbery.

The men, identified as 29-year-old Aurner “N” from Chiapas and 32-year-old Cristóbal “N” from Quintana Roo, were both shot in their legs. The men reported being approached by subjects on a motorcycle at the 110th Street entrance to the city beach.

An ambulance was sent to the location after 911 received the report of two injured by gunfire, however, when they arrived, they were informed both men had already driven themselves to hospital.

Neither men received life threatening injuries. One man was shot in his knee while the other was shot in the ankle. Police met the pair at the hospital where they were told of resisting the attempted robbery.
