Police arrest two seen dragging deceased body in Cancun

Cancun, Q.R. — Two men were taken into custody over the weekend for allegedly dragging a deceased body behind a vehicle.

Neighbors in the region of 247 of Cancun reported the scene to police after seeing two people on board a vehicle dragging a body. Police, who were conducting a surveillance tour in a nearby area, received the call and began a lookout for the suspects and their vehicle.

Reports say that moments before, neighbors in the residential area of Villas Otoch Paraíso saw a body fall from the open back of a gray SUV. The two men on board continued to drive, dragging the body approximately 100 meters before it broke free of the vehicle.

Police reported seeing a gray SUV matching the description given by neighbors and proceeded to follow. Their report states the vehicle was being driven at an excessive speed with the back hatch open.

Requesting the vehicle stop, police were led on a chase as the driver of the SUV sped ahead. Police managed to intercept the vehicle, stopping it, however, the two men tried to flee the scene but were apprehended.

The detainees were identified by their initials D.A.P.C and J.A.D who were arrested and presented to the State Attorney General. Ministerial authorities said the body of the deceased was that of a 30-year-old male. He was found handcuffed and with a bag over his head. No further information was provided.
