Police arrest two believed responsible for murder of former Tulum officer

Tulum, Q.R. — Two men arrested in two separate operations are believed related to the murder of a former officer. Members of the Municipal and Ministerial Police made the arrests. They say both men are accused of having murdered a former police officer in the Mayapax neighborhood of Tulum earlier this month.

On February 3, a man was shot and killed inside his car while parked next to a school. He was talking with a woman when two subjects on a motorcycle pulled up beside him and began shooting.

Both men were taken into custody after police were granted arrest warrants. One of the men, 27-year-old David J from Tabasco, was arrested in Punta Allen. The second man, Joel S, was located in the town of Franciso Uh May where he was arrested.

Upon their detainment, both were found in possession of loaded weapons. They are being investigated for the murder of the former Tulum police officer that took place on a public street. The FGE has since reported that both men have been officially charged with homicide and will remain in preventative detention during their trials.
