Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A newly released report shows that the municipality of Solidaridad remains zika virus free.
Playa del Carmen General Hospital director, José Bolio Rosado, says that to date, there has been 22 cases of Dengue in Solidaridad, one case of Chikungunya and four cases of Zika. However, the four Zika patients are from the island of Cozumel that have been transferred to Playa del Carmen for treatment.
He stressed that in Playa del Carmen and the rest of the municipality, there are no confirmed cases of Zika. Bolio Rosado did explain that anyone who experiences the first signs of fever or discomfort should see a doctor or health center.
He also added that with the constant rainfall people should be more diligent about cleaning their yards as well as clearing roofs and any open spaces that could become potential breeding sites for the larva of Aedes Aegypti.
