Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The city of Playa del Carmen will see the building of its first nursing home for seniors.
The project is being funded by La Fundación Yantra, who met with local officials who agreed to build the new facility in the colony of Cristo Rey.
Rocío Camacho, a liaison with the foundation, explained, “Other organizations know that Playa del Carmen does not have a nursing home, so this will be a boom for Playa. There are thousands of old people who are sometimes abandoned in their homes we realize, so fortunately we managed to connect with Alejandro Slim, founder of Yantra, so Yantra came to support all the work to create a stable place for our elders.”
La Fundación Yantra supports numerous programs ranging from doctors and medical services to transportation for the disabled. To date, La Fundación Yantra has built 29 nursing homes throughout the country.
