Playa del Carmen taxi driver found dead in irregular In-House colony

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A male was shot to death outside his home in Playa del Carmen Thursday in the irregular residential area of In-House.

Neighbors reported hearing gunfire at around 2:00 a.m., however, it wasn’t until later in the morning that the body of a man was found slumped over in the driver’s seat of a taxi.

According to preliminary reports, an emergency call was made around 11:30 a.m.. When police arrived, they found a deceased male inside the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río taxi.

Reports say the deceased was a 50-year-old taxi driver. He was shot several times while inside his taxi where he lived in the irregular colony of In-House in the city’s far west.

Witnesses reported seeing two people aboard a black motorcycle that they said, were responsible for the shooting. The body was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service for an official autopsy.
