Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Playa del Carmen is at full capacity says the director of tourism for the municipality.
Ernesto Bartolucci Blanco, tourism director for Solidaridad, says that Playa del Carmen is at full capacity for the holiday season with Fifth Avenue and city beaches overflowing with visitors.
He says popular street areas have been enhanced with additional lighting for the holidays along with public security police to ensure the safety of everyone.
“Once again Playa del Carmen proves to be the tourist destination par excellence to reach 100 percent in hotel occupancy, generating a great economic income that will benefit all areas of the tourism sector,” said Bartolucci Blanco.
Manuel Paredes Mendoza, executive director of the Association of Hotels of the Riviera Maya, recognized that hotel occupancy is high thanks to the successful promotion that has been made for the destination.
“Playa del Carmen is the heart of Riviera Maya and from the eighth municipality of Quintana Roo you can reach any point of interest. It also has a large hotel infrastructure, water parks and natural attractions that are easy to reach from a short distance.
“To enjoy dinner or shopping, visitors only need to go to the famous Fifth Avenue,” said Paredes Mendoza.
According to municipal president Laura Beristain Navarrete, all operational areas have been working together to ensure the safety of locals and visitors, including along the coast where there is a large influx of beach-goers.
She says that Civil Protection is in charge of ensuring everyone is safe and enjoying this holiday season.
