Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Police in Playa del Carmen have arrested a young male after he was reported for aiming a firearm and uttering threats at a group of women.

The report came from a woman who said the unidentified male passed them on the street before turning around and confronting them. She reported the male pulled out a gun and aimed it directly at her daughter. He was uttering threats when she slapped the gun out of her daughter’s direction, causing it to fire into the air.

The man then pointed the gun at her 3-year-old son, which is when another woman pulled the child away and pushed the man who began to run after realizing he was out of ammunition.

The incident took place along 15th Avenue in the central area of Colosio and was attended to by Municipal Police who heard the gunfire. When they arrived in the area, they saw a group of women running.

After learning what happened, police launched a search of the person, finding him nearby with the gun tucked into his waist. Police say detained is Cesar Agustín E.A. who was taken to the State Attorney General for two counts of attempted homicide.
