Playa del Carmen police arrest two in Fifth Avenue shooting

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The Municipal Police of Solidaridad have reported the arrest of two young males who are allegedly responsible for the shooting of two people along Fifth Avenue Tuesday night.

La Policía Municipal de Solidaridad say that two subjects have been apprehended separately, both of whom are believed responsible for the Fifth Avenue shooting that left one dead and one seriously injured.

The shooting happened in the city’s center Tuesday that claimed the life of a woman and left a man hospitalized with serious injuries. Police say that elements of the General Directorate of Public Security received the report of an injured person and a deceased person on Fifth Avenue along with the description of the two men who carried out the attack.

Witnesses were also able to accurately describe the motorcycle used in the shooting.

According to their report, police found the motorcycle on 25th Avenue, which matched the description given by witnesses. While searching the area, they also located a firearm. At the same time on 30th Avenue, Municipal Police located a person who met the description provided by those who saw the shooting, which led to his arrest.

The second suspect was also taken into police custody by authorities working on the case along Playa del Carmen Boulevard. Municipal elements located the second male after he matched witness descriptions.

Both subjects have been made available to authorities. The names of those arrested has not been released, nor has any information about the two shooting victims.
