Playa del Carmen club shut down after federal search

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A club in the city’s center has been shut down by the state after two searches of area establishments.

The club, La Buena Vida, has been secured by the Fiscalía General de la República (Attorney General’s Office) of the state after about a dozen agents searched the premises on Monday. After their search, which involved both municipal and tourist police, security seals of closure were placed on the outside of the building.

La Buena Vida is located just off the city’s popular 10th street area, across from Coco Bongo where dozens of clubs, pubs and restaurants are located. Police arrived at La Buena Vida Monday with personnel from la Agencia de Investigación Criminal to search two clubs, one of which being La Buena Vida.

The search came after the arrest of five people was ordered by the government on Saturday. The five were taken into custody by the Navy of Mexico, however, details surrounding their arrest have not been issued.
