Pilots fired after taking selfie while in-flight

Two pilots have been fired after taking selfies in the cockpit of their plane.

The photos were taken with the two pilots and an actress in the cockpit of a plane while it was in-flight. The actress, Vicky Xipolitakis, then posted the photo to her more than 405,000 Twitter fans.

Once Aerolineas Argentinas got wind of the photo, both pilots were let go. Mariano Recalde, president of Aerolineas Argentias, told news media that the pilots in-air selfies put other lives at risk.

“As soon as we became aware of the situation, we dismissed the pilots,” said Recalde. “They are two irresponsible people.”

For her role in the incident, Xipolitakis, who is known for regularly posting seductive photos to her social media pages, has been barred for five years from flying with the airline.

The incident happened on a recent flight from Buenos Aires to Roasrio. Earlier this month, a pilot with a Japan airline was suspended after taking an in-flight selfie with a flight attendant.

In March, the internet went into a frenzy when a woman posted photos of herself sitting in the cockpit of a plane during a flight from Taipei to Hong Kong. In that incident, the Civil Aviation Department requested that the airline provide an explanation.
