Parked Tulum taxis shot at barley missing driver

Tulum, Q.R. — A parked taxi with the driver inside was shot at several times missing the driver, but hitting other nearby vehicles.

The shooting happened around 7:00 p.m. in the Colony Tumben Kah in Tulum when subjects arrived and began shooting at a targeted vehicle. Although the vehicle was hit numerous times, the driver inside ducked along the front seat, avoiding being hit.

Windows on the drivers side were shattered by the spray of bullets. Two other parked taxis were also damaged. The taxis belonged to the Tiburones del Caribe union.

The incident occurred a week after the former union treasurer, Carlos Alvarello Pantoja, was shot and killed in broad daylight in central Playa del Carmen.
