One dies of electrocution when truck chain makes contact with CFE cables

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A worker for a satellite company was killed Thursday night after being electrocuted while installing a new pole along the section of Playa del Carmen – Puerto Aventuras highway. Two other workers from the same unit were rushed to hospital with second and third degree burns.

The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. when the three men arrived to replace a pole that was damaged due to Hurricane Delta. Preliminary reports indicate that while moving the concrete pole into place, a chain from the support crane made contact with the high-voltage power lines.
