One dead and five trapped in another collapsed Mexico mine accident

Indé, Durango — At least one person was killed Thursday after another Mexico mine collapse, this time in Durango. State Civil Protection coordinator and staff traveled to the site at the Navidad Mine in the municipality of Indé after learning of the collapse.

Governor Esteban Villegas ordered immediate attention to the site with the report of the landslide and one death so far. There are reports of five trapped miners, however, official numbers are not yet known.

The noon landslide happened in the mine which is located in the town of San Rafael de Jicorica, in the municipality of Indé. The deceased miner has been identified as Manuel “M”, while the injured miner is reported to be 34-year-old Martin “F”.

State Civil Protection coordinator, Arturo Galindo Cabada, provided the preliminary report of one dead and one injured. Durango Civil Protection say they will post updates as more information is learned.
