Cancun, Q.R. — General director of Experiencias Xcaret says the company is set to build another park.
With an investment of close to 500 million peso, Experiencias Xcaret will build its seventh theme park in Cancun called Xavage, announces Miguel Quintana Pali, general director of Experiencias Xcaret, adding that Xavage “could be the best of all”.
“Xavage will be constructed on the land we have next to the airport, where Xoximilco is, but with completely different adventures,” he explained.
“In the same land where at present, at night, the attraction of trajineras and canals is enjoyed, a diurnal project with extreme activities is being developed on a total of 40 hectares,” noting the two parks will compliment one another.
“It’s an adventure park like Xplor, although it has nothing to do with the kind of adventure there. You’ll see in Xavage, for example, visitors will be able to use all-terrain vehicles with large, gigantic tires.
“And we still lack certain market segments for example, an option for visitors to come here for a few days and then cruise the Caribbean without the need for a US visa. If we had a port here, this would be possible.
“We have just opened our first hotel with 900 rooms, and then we intend to open another one of the same number of rooms every two years until we reach 12,000 rooms. We are creating innovations in the market.
“That is what we have done in the past, and now that we are entering the hotel industry, we cannot do the same as everyone else. We are doing it because we believe we can do better,” he added.
The new Xavage park will be built on land adjacent to Xoximilco. According to the Mexican Association of Travel Agencies, Experiencias Xcaret sells just over 40 percent of all tours sold in the Mexican Caribbean.
