New Southwest Houston to Cozumel flight lands

Cozumel, Q.R. — A new flight from Houston to Cozumel landed on the island over the weekend, arriving with 148 passengers.

The new Southwest Airline flight to Cozumel was greeted by municipal mayor Pedro Joaquín Delbouis who pointed out that the island is being connected with more cities in the United States.

“In the present administration, we work in a comprehensive manner in coordination with state and federal governments, as well as private initiatives and various tourism service providers with the arrival of the new Southwest Airlines flight. In addition to the strengthening of air connectivity, the economy of the island will be boosted with the generation of a greater number of jobs,” he said.

Juan Suarez of Southwest Airlines announced that the airline will offer two round-trip flights a day between Houston and Cozumel, reaffirming the company’s interest in operating in Mexico and in tourist destinations such as the island of Cozumel.

“With the inauguration of this new route to Cozumel, we are happy to add a destination in this beautiful country, which has also played a key role in the international expansion of Southwest Airlines,” said Juan Suarez.

Joaquín Delbouis noted that in February, arrivals to the island grew by 7.8 percent with 60,624 travelers arriving to vacation on Isla Cozumel.
