Playa del Carmen, Q.R. – A large colorful Playa del Carmen sign has been installed at Founders Park in the city center.
More than four million tourists a year arrive to the area and will now be able to take a photo with the new sign.
During the unveiling of the letters, Municipal Solidarity President, Cristina Torres Gómez says, “We will strengthen and position the brand of Playa del Carmen through the more than four million tourists that visit us.”
She explained that although Playa del Carmen was born with the Riviera Maya concept, the city now has its own identity, its own name and characteristics, “And today we share with the world and locals this sign to take away a memory of one of the iconic sites of this great tourist destination,” she added.
She also said that the people of Playa del Carmen are proud and happy to sow their future here, “And we will work to stabilize the destination because we are carrying out actions for the benefit of citizens and tourists. We are the ones who want welfare, tranquility and peace for Solidarity.”
During the unveiling of the sign Torres Gómez reported that the sign was an invsetment of 215,000 peso that came from its own resources, and that it will benefit the more than 200,000 inhabitants through promotion for the more than four million tourists who visit the municipality of Solidaridad.
