Cancun, Q.R. — With an investment of more than 600 million peso, a group is working to gain approval to construct a cultural park at Laguna Bojórquez for Cancun’s 50th anniversary.
The Laguna de Bojórquez Cultural Park could be inaugurated for the city’s 50th anniversary in 2020. The project has already been presented to government and municipal authorities by the association Todos por Cancún headed by Guillermo del Rosario.
The association has ask the state government and federal legislators for the resource needed to construct the cultural park. Guillermo del Rosario, head of the project says that more than 40 civil society organizations and private companies have expressed interest in participating in the park.
El Parque de la Cultura, la luz y el agua Cancún would be built on a seven-hectare area and would become a designated place for local families and tourists.
The project would include a theater area for outdoor concerts, dancing fountains with light and sound and recreation areas along with parking and commercial service areas. The association is hoping to gain approval for the project to present it during the city’s 50th birthday in 2020.
