New housing development proposal for Akumal

Akumal, Q.R. — A new housing development is being proposed to the Ministry of Environment for the town of Akumal.

With an initial investment of 3.7 billion peso, a new housing project for Punta Norte in the municipality of Tulum has been submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat).

If approved, the project will be constructed at Supermanzana 001 along the Chetumal-Benito Juárez Federal Highway 307 between Akumal and the Bahía Príncipe.

According to the promoter, BP Promotions SA de CV, the project would consist of the construction and operation of tourist and urban infrastructure in an area of just over 163,000 hectares.

The overall architectural design of the project, which is part of the company’s Environmental Impact Statement, includes mangrove vegetation, caves, cenotes and waterfalls.

The design is based on the subdivision of the total area of land use for Low Density Residential Tourism (TR-2a), Low Housing Single-family density (H2-U), Low-density multi-family housing (H2-H) and Low-density housing multi-family vertical (H2-V).
