Cancun, Q.R. – Beginning June 13, Falcon Holidays and Thomspon of the TUI Group will offer a new direct flight from Dublin to the Cancun International Airport.
The Mexican Embassy in Ireland confirmed that June 13 will start the first of the new direct charter flights. Initially, the charter flight will be offered once a week for six weeks using Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
According to the Mexican Tourism Promotion Council (CPTM), more than 24,000 Irish tourists arrived in Mexico during 2015, a 10.6 percent increase over the previous year.
The Mexican Embassy noted that in Ireland, the per capital travel to Mexico is one of the highest in Europe, even more so than Italy, Germany and the Netherlands.
They pointed out that Cancun is not the only attraction for Irish travelers, but also that Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Chichén-Itzá, Uxmal and Mexico City are popular tourist destinations.
The new flights will be attractive not only for tourists, but also for businesspeople. The Mexican Embassy says that the new direct Dublin to Cancun route has the potential to become a regularly offered charter service.
