New bicycles, mobile security towers for Playa del Carmen police

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — New security towers and bicycles have been presented to the municipality of Solidaridad to help enforce public security.

Playa del Carmen mayor Cristina Torres Gómez has forwarded six mobile surveillance towers and the gift of 20 new police bicycles to the Tourist Police branch that have been donated by Mamitas Beach to improve the quality of public security for local residents and tourists.

“We thank Mamitas beach for the donation of these bicycles that will help the Tourist Police work for the benefit of the community and the tourism that visits us, an action that is carried out in search of a safer city and to recover tranquility that we all deserve so much,” she said.

The equipment that was delivered consists of six mobile surveillance towers with a value of over 82,000 peso which was acquired with fiscal resources, in addition to bicycles, protective helmet and LED lamps that were donated by businessman Jorge Marzuca Fuentes.

During the presentation, Cristina Torres encouraged elements of the General Directorate of Public Safety and Municipal Transit to be proud of the work they perform by providing security and restoring social peace for the benefit of the people.

“It is time to recognize the work they do as police officers. What they do with honor and with pride. It is time to rise and feel worthy of the uniform they wear as they are serving society,” she told members of the security forces.

On behalf of Jorge Marzuca Fuentes, General Director of the Mamitas Beach Club, Daniel Romero Landa said he was honored to collaborate with the current Administration to which the 20 bicycles are delivered.

“For us it is extremely important to provide social support in favor of the people in security matters, for that we appreciate the opportunity to participate with them,” said Romero Landa.

The Director General of Public Safety and Traffic Juan Martín Rodríguez Olvera stressed that for the inhabitants of Solidarity, it is vital to maintain the image as a safe destination since the economic dynamics of the municipality is tourism.
