Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A new 540-room hotel has been given construction approval in the municipality of Soildaridad.
The company Vadjavari SA de CV has received a green light to develop a hotel complex at Punta Maroma north of Playa del Carmen. The General Directorate of Impact and Environmental Risk approved a change of land use for the company to begin building.
Once complete, the company will have constructed a new hotel Proyecto MX with a total of 540 rooms distributed in 11 buildings and 13 villas with pools, gardens, restaurants, spa, terraces and roads.
Vadjavari submitted their request in April of this year. The investment is reported to be around 2.1 billion peso. The hotel will be located in the Environmental Management Unit 17 called the Punta Brava-Xcalacoco Tourist Corridor 35.3 kilometers from the Cancun International Airport on 54 hectares with a beachfront of 110 linear meters.
According to the promoting firm, the design of the project was constituted through an environmental planning process that “orients it towards an environmental sustainability scheme”.
The document says the construction will allow the conservation and maintenance of ecosystems and their environmental functions, mainly mangrove, jungle and dune, since “it will not alter the mangrove of this region and does not endanger the persistence of the subperennifolia middle forest in the one that is the property.”
