Navy personnel rescue 4 off Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Elements of the Navy of Mexico rescued four people off the coast of Isla Mujeres after receiving an emergency request for help. The Secretariat of the Navy of Mexico reported that on Saturday, naval personnel rescued four people of Mexican nationality nine nautical miles (approximately 16 kilometers) east of Isla Mujeres.

Their rescue was made after receiving an emergency call at the Naval Search, Rescue and Maritime Surveillance Station that a recreational boat named La Deriva with four male persons on board, was adrift after experiencing mechanical failures in its propulsion system.

The boat and crew were located and transferred to the Fifth Region Naval where they were awaited by personnel from the Harbor Master of Isla Mujeres for the corresponding procedures.
