National Guard sets up permanent base in residential Cancun

Cancun, Q.R. — The secretary of the municipality of Benito Juárez has announced that a National Guard base will be permanently installed at the main entrance of the residential area of Villas Otoch Paraíso in Cancun.

El secretario del ayuntamiento de Benito Juárez, Jorge Aguilar Osorio says that due to the number of violent events constantly recorded in the subdivision, a permanent base of la Guardia Nacional will be installed and operational within a few days.

“The northern part requires priority attention so there will be a permanent base at the entrance of Villas Otoch where the sales offices have been enabled,” he said.

The troubled area of Cancun has become a red district for authorities due to continual area crimes that range from theft and domestic violence to drug trafficking and killings.

Coordinator of the National Guard for Quintana Roo, Fidel Mondragón Rivero, said that the city of Cancun is priority in matters of coordination with the Single Command for the fight against insecurity, adding that there have been positive results in the reduction of crimes such as homicides.
