National Guard escorts bus of illegal migrants bound for Playa del Carmen to INM

Municipality of Tulum, Q.R. — A bus was escorted by several National Guard vehicles Sunday after it was found transporting 40 illegal migrants. The old model Dina bus was located on the Tulum-Felipe Carrillo Puerto highway in the municipality of Tulum bound for Playa del Carmen.

It was in a security inspection filter for heavy vehicles where the migrants were discovered. On board the bus, all 40 people, including adults and minors, were from Central America and without paperwork to prove their legal stay in the country.

All 40 migrants were transferred to the National Migration Institute (INM) in Chetumal where they determined their legal situation. Three others on board the bus were arrested for transporting the illegal migrants.
