Mother, daughter rescued after being dragged by Playa del Carmen currents

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A woman and her daughter were rescued from Playa del Carmen waters after the pair were dragged out to sea from strong currents.

Civil Protection and lifeguards from the Paradisus Hotel were part of the rescue of a woman and her young daughter after they were pulled into the water at Punta Esmeralda. Both were were dragged to Playa 88 by the strong current.

The 32-year-old mother and her 5-year-old daughter were reported unharmed, but were reviewed by paramedics after they were pulled back to shore.

Reports say the two were swimming on a floating mattress when they were sucked into the current and began drifting.
