More than 1,300 kilos of cocaine in floating packages located off coast of Chiapas

Puerto Chiapas, Chiapas — The Navy of Mexico located and seized 1,312 kilos of cocaine found floating in the sea off the Coast of Chiapas. On Monday, the Navy of Mexico reported the finding and subsequent seizure of the blocks of narcotics while aboard a Navy vessel.

Members of the Sixteenth Naval Region based in Puerto Chiapas seized 44 packages containing 1,326 bricks of approximately 1,312 kilograms of cocaine. The finding was made approximately 184 nautical miles (340 kilometers) southwest of Puerto Chiapas.

The Navy reported that the operation was the result of the coordinated use of surface, air and land units through which it became known of a probable transfer of illicit cargo in the waters of the Exclusive Economic Zone in the jurisdiction of the Sixteenth Naval Region.
