Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Due to constant growth, the municipality of Solidaridad is in need of more public beach access points.
At least 20 new points are needed for the municipality, six of which are required for Puerto Aventuras. Gustavo Maldonado Saldaña who is with the Committee for Tourism and the Environment for Solidaridad, said that a proposal has been submitted to Semarnat for four new public access points for Puerto Aventuras.
He explained, “We have already filed the request with Semarnat for the access of the delegation of Puerto Aventuras with four applications however, given the size of the needs of this city, we need at least six.”
Maldonado Saldaña pointed out that one of the toughest challenges is not only having the destination granted additional access points, but getting land owners to donate roads that lead to the beaches.
