More illegal structures demolished during Isla Mujeres beach sweep

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Another beach sweep in Isla Mujeres lead authorities to locate several illegal structures. The buildings, which were improvised palapas, were found at Isla Blanca in the Continental Zone of Isla Mujeres.

Two buildings were torn down and the debris removed after city officials found them operating without permits. The illegal beach vendors had set up services where they charged beachgoers, but were not legally able to do so. The construction of the palapas were also not legal.

It is the third beach sweep on the Continental Zone since the program began last year. Random inspections are routinely performed around Cancun and Isla Mujeres beaches to remove illegal structures being used for criminal activity.
