More flights canceled as hurricanes hit regions

Cancun, Q.R. — More delayed flights have been reported at the Cancun International Airport due to hurricanes Irma and Katia.

Friday alone, 12 flights of both domestic and international origin were canceled due to poor weather conditions. Flights affected so far have included Volaris flights to and from Veracruz, Jet Blue to Fort Lauderdale as well as Spirit Airlines to and from Fort Lauderdale.

Interjet has also canceled two round-trip flights to Havana, Cuba. Yesterday, Irma was responsible for 10 canceled flights in and out of the Cancun Airport while Katia was the reason for two cancellations.

Flights in and out of Miami are also expected to be canceled over the next several days as Irma makes landfall on Florida over the weekend. Juan Pablo García Luna, administrator of the Cozumel International Airport, said the arrivals scheduled for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, operated by American Airlines from Miami have been canceled.
