Military soldiers land in Cancun to help fight crime

Cancun, Q.R. — Soldiers have arrived in the city of Cancun to help with security and surveillance.

The Ministry of National Defense announced the arrival of soldiers to the city of Cancun, however, they did not provide a figure. Their arrival comes as the city nears 200 murders since the beginning of the year.

The newly landed soldiers will work in coordination with authorities of the three levels of government and will be based in the municipality of Benito Juarez. Their job will be to increase security and social welfare.

According to a press release by the ministry, “With these actions, the Mexican Army and Air Force reaffirms its commitment to the people of Mexico, through the materialization of activities that contribute to solving public needs in a prompt and timely manner.

“The Mexican Army and Air Force joins the joint responsibility of finding solutions to the collective problems of the entity.”
