Mexico’s Caribbean promoted to 350 U.S. travel agents

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Members of la Asociación de Hoteles de la Riviera Maya have met with more than 350 travel agents from the U.S. to promote Mexico’s Caribbean.

The promotional caravan took place in the cities of St. Louis Missouri, Minneapolis, Milwaukee and Chicago, which was attended by 350 American travel agents. The regional promotion was organized jointly with Apple Leisure and the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo.

While touring, members of la Asociación de Hoteles de la Riviera Maya promoted the region’s food, culture and tourist sites as well as upcoming events.

According to el Consejo de Promoción Turística de Quintana Roo, the U.S. market has an average stay of six days of which 20 percent buy their trips through traditional travel agents.

Participating companies included hotel chains and companies such as Fiesta Americana Group, Grupo Xcaret, Iberostar, Now, The Reef, RIU, Crown Paradise, Amstar as well as the Association of Cozumel Hotels and el Consejo de Promoción Turística de Quintana Roo executives.
