Mexico Red Cross gets 7 million donation

Chetumal, Q.R. — The Mexican Red Cross has received a large donation from the state of Quintana Roo.

During their national collection, Please Do Not Close Your Eyes, the Mexican Red Cross was presented with a seven million peso donation by state govenor, Carlos Joaquín González. The money is set to go toward eight delegations, making up 20 percent of their operating expenditure for the 2017 season.

The Mexico Red Cross mans collection centers for money and supplies and works to distribute these resources in 120 municipalities. They rely heavily on volunteers to raise money and help distribute aid where and when its needed.

Apart from providing aid to local people, the Mexican Red Cross has helped victims of natural or social disasters in other countries including relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina, by sending food and other supplies.
