Mexico President Enrique Peña Nieto sends condolences to New York

Mexico City, Mexico — Mexico’s President Enrique Peña Nieto expressed condolences for the deaths and act of violence that occurred in Manhattan, New York Tuesday.

Reports say that so far, eight people have died after a man intentionally drove a vehicle onto a bicycle path before crashing into a school bus where at least two more were injured.

To date, eight people have been reported killed with more injured in the incident. The man who drove the vehicle was shot and apprehended by New York police.

Through his Twitter account Peña Nieto wrote.”I regret the tragic events recorded this afternoon in #NuevaYork. @Mexico expresses its solidarity with the people of #EUA.”

The federal executive stressed that the consulate of Mexico in New York is in contact with authorities and aware of the possibility that there are Mexicans affected.
