Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The Navy of Mexico assisted in escorting an American sailboat Monday after the crew of two lost propulsion.
The navy says they proceeded with support after receiving a call from Puerto Juarez informing them that a Panamanian vessel, Century Emeral, was heading toward Isla Mujeres towing an American sailboat, Minstrel.
The navy of Mexico headed out to sea, locating both vessels 33 nautical miles northeast of Isla Mujeres. The Mexican Navy proceeded to escort them to safety with the Panamanian boat towing the American vessel.
When they arrived to the island, navy health care officials were on hand to tend to the two American crew members, who were reported to be in good health.
