Cancun, Q.R. – Toll fees along the Mérida-Cancún highway have seen a recent increase, adding to the already high cost for motor vehicle drivers. This fee comes within a few weeks of the second gasoline fuel hike imposed throughout the country.
Aside from higher fuel costs, motor vehicle drivers will have to dish out more money when using the popular Mérida-Cancún toll road.
This latest increase was made without notice and is in addition to the increase imposed last year when motorists began paying between 5 and 9 extra pesos to use the highway.
While authorities feel that the latest increase does not mean a severe impact to motorists, it could have an effect in other areas such as tourism where large tour buses enter and exit the tolls more than twice a day.
