Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The Port Administration of Quintana Roo has announced the start of four projects, two of which will optimize the Maritime Terminal of Isla Mujeres with a total investment of approximately 2.3 million peso.
Rosa Elena Ríos Fernández, coordinator of the maritime terminal at Isla Mujeres, explained that there are four projects that were tendered a few weeks ago.
She explained that one of them involves the Punta Sur Lighthouse, a building that had not been maintained for several years and that now, will not only be rehabilitated, but will also receive a makeover of 238,000 peso.
Another of the projects, she says, which is already in process is the rehabilitation of the area of operations of the terminal of ferries, in addition to the rehabilitation of the retaining wall in that same terminal. There, the projects will cost 848,000 peso.
Ríos Fernández added that other projects include the change of lights in the maritime passenger terminal at a cost of 246,000 peso along with the rehabilitation of the old concrete pier in the same terminal. She explained that the goal is to enable the pier to receive larger vessels.
The projects are anticipated to be complete by the first half of November, weather permitting.
