Man robs store of 1,500 peso, sentenced to two years

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man in Playa del Carmen will spend the next two years behind bars after robbing a business.

The robbery occurred June 17 at an establishment in Colonia Zazil-ha of central Playa del Carmen. A man identified as Zuri N, has been found connected to that robbery.

The State Attorney General’s Office says that the man is accused of threatening staff with a knife and forcing one of them to empty the cash register of 1,500 peso.

After the robbery, police found the suspect several streets later and arrested him. Upon his arrest, he was found carrying a knife cash. The courtroom judge has sentenced him to two years for aggravated robbery.
