Man in possession of turtle eggs arrested

Tulum, Q.R. — A man has been arrested for being in the possession of 69 turtle eggs.

The arrest occurred on Sunday afternoon as local residents reported seeing a man trying to sell turtle eggs for 50 peso a piece.  The 38-year-old man from Chumpón village was spotted on a street by Tulum Public Safety. They found him carrying a total of 69 turtle eggs. 

The man was made available to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), based in Cancun, where he was transferred yesterday afternoon to answer federal offense charges.
