Man drowns in Tulum’s Cenote Zamna

Tulum, Q.R. — A man died by drowning in a cenote several kilometres from the town of Tulum Wednesday afternoon. Police and paramedics were sent to the scene at Cenote Zamna, approximately 7 kilometres from Tulum.

When they arrived, they found a young deceased male. The victim, 27-year-old Manuel N from Yucatan, was swimming when he told a friend he was not feeling well. While attempting to leave the cenote water, he passed out, which lead to his drowning.

Paramedics confirmed his death. An investigation into what happened as well as an official cause of death is underway.
