Cancun, Q.R. — A man fell to his death from the Riu Cancun Hotel Tuesday after falling from the 15th floor.
The man, who was of Afghanistan decent but with an American passport, was reported to not be a guest at the hotel. The deceased is identified as 41-year-old Rahman Hadid.
According to the State Attorney General’s Office, the accident occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m. Tuesday when someone reported the death of a person at the hotel. It is not clear if the man fell or was launched from the hotel, nor do authorities yet know if it was a suicide or homicide.
Police have requested the hotel’s video surveillance to gather more evidence.
The hotel was sealed off while police carried out their investigation and the Forensic Medical Service removed the body.
