Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Oscar winning actress Lupita Amondi Nyong’o spent some of her free time this past week enjoying Mexico’s Riviera Maya. The actress chose to stay at Hotel Esencia in Riviera Maya (halfway between Playa del Carmen and Tulum) where she took in sun, sand and beach.
Amondi Nyong’o posted several photos to her Twitter account, sharing her vacation experiences with fans. Included in her photos were shots of her boarding, lounging and enjoying the local cuisine which she called “phenominal”.
Her shared social media photos also showed her visiting the Mayan ruins of Cobá, Ka’an Lu’um and Chunyaxche lagoons and others from Sian Ka’an where she took in the “serenity” of Ka’an Lu’um.
Lupita Amondi Nyong’o is a Kenyan-Mexican actress born in Mexico to Kenyan parents and raised in Kenya. She attended college in the United States, earning a bachelor’s degree in film and theater studies from Hampshire College.
Nyong’o began her career in Hollywood as a production assistant but made her acting debut in 2008 with the short film East River. She has appeared, wrote and produced numerous pieces since then after earning a master’s degree in acting from the Yale School of Drama.
In 2013, she won an Academy Award For Best Supporting Actress as Patsey in the film, 12 Years of Slavery.
