Living on the edge: the ultimate hotel room

Calling all adrenaline junkies and nature lovers! If you’re looking to live on the edge in the ultimate hotel room, Skylodge Adventure Suites is for you.

Located on a cliff face in Cusco, Peru, the three hotel pods hang precipitously off the side of a mountain 400 meters above the ground.

The hotel offers a view – and experience – like no other. Each hotel pod is 24 feet long and 8 feet wide offering up enough room to fit four beds. The pods themselves are constructed of aerospace aluminum and weather resistant polycarbonate.

For $1,000 a night, each hotel room ‘pod’ consists a bathroom, comfortable beds, towels and a spectacular view of the Sacred Inca Valley. The per night fee also includes gourmet breakfast and dinner, including wine. All pods have ample curtains for privacy.

Popular Mechanics says:

“For about $1,000 per night, you can sleep in one of these suspended “transparent luxury capsules. All you have to do is climb the 400 feet up to get into one. Guests climb by via ferrata, a ladder-like framework made of iron, or they can hike an “intrepid trail through ziplines.”

Guests can access their hotel room via a hike, harnessed rock climb or 300 meter ferrata, which are metal rungs welded into the face of the cliff.

The Skylodge Adventure Suites hotel has a 24-hour front desk, dining area and balcony. They also offer a large array of activities either on site or in surrounding areas including ziplining and hiking.

The hotel is a 20-minute drive from Urubamba and is part of the Peru-based adventure tourism outfit Natura Vive.
