Large Riviera Maya Kanai project finally resumes

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. – After nearly two years of being dormant, the investment group behind Kanai resort will again, begin construction.

General Director of Environmental Planning and Urban Development, Eduardo Ocejo Morentín says, “We have been informed that in the near future they will start the project. There are four resorts, all different projects. It is a huge investment and will work toward further improving the tourism facilities we have to offer.”

In the meantime, Kanani project developers are waiting for permission to build the roads needed. Once construction resumes, Kanai will consist of four luxurious hotels worth an estimated $200 million.

The hotels will include Auberge, Park Hyatt with 224 rooms, W Retreat of 180 rooms and St. Regis with 136 rooms.

The project is expected to create at least 200 jobs and should open its first phase sometime in 2018.
