Cancun, Q.R. — A package containing several kilos of marijuana was found on a public beach in the Cancun Hotel Zone.
The State Secretariat for Public Safety reported that through the Neptuno operation, elements of the State Police together with the Gendarmerie secured a package of marijuana in the vicinity of Playa Marlín.
According to their report, police were performing on-foot surveillance in the area of Playa Delfines when they were alerted to a package in the seaweed of Playa Marlin.
When they arrived, police discovered a package containing 11.2 kilos of marijuana. The package was placed at the disposition of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR).
Over the past several months, the discovery of packages of drugs along the Cancun, Riviera Maya coastline has become more common.
On Friday, a woman was arrested at the Playa del Carmen ferry terminal after being found carrying two suitcases containing 43 kilos of marijuana.
